Comprehensive Telepsychiatry Evaluations

Thoughtful, whole-person psychiatric care—from anywhere

Mendem offers comprehensive telepsychiatry evaluations for youth and adults ages 10–60 across Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. These in-depth evaluations are designed to provide clarity, accurate diagnosis, and a thoughtful treatment plan tailored to each individual’s needs.

Each evaluation includes a careful review of symptoms, mental health history, medical background, lifestyle factors, and psychosocial context. Our approach is trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and grounded in evidence-based psychiatric practice—while integrating lifestyle and holistic considerations that support long-term mental health.

We evaluate and treat a wide range of psychiatric concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and stress-related disorders

  • Mood disorders, including depression

  • Eating disorders and disordered eating patterns

  • Perinatal and maternal mental health conditions

  • Behavioral and emotional concerns in youth and adolescents

Medication Management

Medication Care Guided by Safety and Individual Needs

Medication management visits focus on the safe, effective, and individualized use of psychiatric medications to support symptom relief, emotional stability, and daily functioning. Treatment is guided by evidence-based standards and tailored to each patient’s unique presentation, response to medication, and personal goals.

Lifestyle and integrative psychiatry principles are always incorporated to support medication effectiveness and long-term mental health. When appropriate, we also discuss medication optimization or gradual deprescribing in a safe, clinically responsible manner.

Our goal is to ensure that medications are used intentionally, thoughtfully, and in alignment with your overall treatment plan.

Appointments include careful monitoring of:

  • Symptom response and progress

  • Medication effectiveness and side effects

  • Dosage adjustments when needed

  • Interactions with lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, and stress

Pharmacogenetic Testing

Personalized Insight to Guide Medication Decisions

Pharmacogenetic testing is offered at Mendem to help inform medication selection and dosing based on how your body may process certain psychiatric medications.

This testing evaluates genetic variations that can influence:

  • How medications are metabolized

  • Potential side-effect sensitivity

  • Likelihood of medication response

Pharmacogenetic testing may be helpful for patients who:

  • Have experienced side effects with medications

  • Have had limited benefit from prior treatments

  • Are starting or adjusting psychiatric medications

  • Want a more personalized approach to medication planning

Results are reviewed in the context of your full clinical picture—never in isolation—and used as an additional tool to support thoughtful decision-making, not as a stand-alone solution.

Testing is optional and may not be covered by insurance. We review benefits, limitations, and costs prior to ordering.

Integrating Lifestyle Medicine Into Psychiatric Care

Supporting Mental Health Beyond Medication Alone

At Mendem, lifestyle medicine is woven into the foundation of all care—whether you are receiving traditional psychiatric treatment or a more comprehensive functional approach. While medications can play an important role in symptom management, long-term mental health is also shaped by daily habits that influence brain function, stress regulation, and emotional resilience.

We integrate evidence-informed lifestyle strategies to support and enhance psychiatric treatment, recognizing that medication works best when the body and nervous system are supported as a whole.

Lifestyle integration may include guidance around:

  • Sleep health and circadian rhythm support

  • Nutrition to support brain function and mood stability

  • Movement and physical activity appropriate to individual capacity

  • Stress management and nervous system regulation

  • Routine and structure to support emotional balance

  • Supplementation, when clinically appropriate

By integrating lifestyle medicine alongside traditional psychiatric approaches, we aim to create treatment plans that not only reduce symptoms, but also support long-term stability, resilience, and overall well-being.
